Chicken Soup for the soul, just for Preteens – Review and Giveaway

27 Aug

Being a tween nowadays can be hard – we didn’t even have tweens in my day! 😉 It’s a weird age group, caught between being a kid and a teenager. This book has 101 stories of inspiration and support for tweens. I love the idea of a book just for this age group! There’s stories about feeling good about yourself, embarrassing moments, mean kids, family issues and so on. It’s always so helpful when you’re a kid to hear what happened to other people, how they got over it – this book really is like a “support group in a book”.

If you have a tween this is the perfect book to just leave on their bed one day, or as a parent read it so you can talk about it, or just identify with what might be happening in their life. One of my favourite stories is The Normal Girl in a Not so Normal Chair by Dani d’Spirit. Often kids don’t know how to treat others who are different, this story really clears it up. At this age kids might not want to sit and discuss these kinds of things with their parents, having it all in an easy to read book is a great way to get the messages across. I think a lot of these stories will really resonate with preteens.

Thanks to Chicken Soup 2 lucky people will each be winning their own copy of this book.

  1. Would love this for my 10 year old!! Would of loved this as a tween myself!! You never know at that age what is “normal”!!!

  2. I can’t think of a moment I COULDN’T have used this bookl during my tween years, I def would like the book for my 11 year old daughter.

  3. Being a single father of three, 2 girls and 1 boy, should explain it all. There are countless situations that have come up where having insight from others would have been appreciated. I know that there is a “long road ahead” so let the trip begin and I hope the roadmap (The Book) will help. Keith

  4. This would have been great when I had this boy who liked me kept soming over with little gifts. Kept telling my mom not to let him in but she didn’t listen to me. Had no idea how to get rid of him without being mean.

  5. This would have been helpful for all those awkward friend and boy moments for sure!!! I would love to have this to share with my middle school students where I teach!

  6. This would be awesome for my niece! As for me when I was a tween, who wanted any sort of advice from an adult!?!? An inspiring book on the other hand could have been useful!
