Why are so many stores closing down at St. Vital Centre?

IMG_20160124_110530_editIf you haven’t been to St. Vital Centre in a while, there are a lot of changes happening. There are a lot of stores closing – all kinds and all over the mall.

The Gap is closing down in just a few days – everything is reduced, even the mannequins are being sold. A lot of things up to 70% off. Carlton Cards is almost cleared out too – lots of cards left, 20 of them for $5 as of yesterday.

Urban Behavior is shutting down too – everything in the store is $10 or less. Still quite a bit of clothes left there. West 49 is also closing, everything in the store is at least 50% off and there’s racks of clothing for $5 and deals like that.

Ecko Unltd is also closing – lots of big sales there too.

There’s a few other stores closing also – and a lot of stores rumoured to be closing also. Not too sure why – some because the leases were up, maybe the leases were too high and some stores apparently moving over to the outlet mall opening next year.

Wonder what will be replacing all of these stores, and who else will be jumping ship?

Did you score any big deals at the closing sales? The outfit shown was $5 for the top, $10 for the sweater and $7 for the pants! Great time to stock up on clothes if you have time to go to the mall soon.

  1. GAP will be opening in the new Seasons of Tuxedo Outlet Mall, in 2017. I had a look at St.Vital but the stock was quite picked through already and nothing really seemed like that big of a sale! Did you know the stock for outlet stores is produced ONLY for outlets? It won’t be regular stock.

    • For certain sizes and styles there were still some deals left, but really empty for sure! Most outlet stores have cheaper versions for sure – there had been a big report on the news once about that. The clothes weren’t even made in the same place or same way at all. A lot thinner and cheaper.
