Uber has received their license from the City of Winnipeg and are expecting to launch in the next few weeks. Tens of thousands of Winnipegers have already signed up to ride with them.
But now they’re trying to find locals with safe driving records to sign up to be Uber drivers. There is a special one time promotional offer of $500 that will be offered to the first 100 drivers to complete 20 trips following launch.
Here’s some info directly from the company –
Driving with Uber offers a flexible way to earn additional cash, particularly at a time when people are experiencing adverse financial impacts due to COVID-19. Across Canada, driver signups are increasing as people look for new income opportunities in the face of significant unemployment.
Beyond the flexibility and convenience of fitting driving around what matters most, driving with Uber offers the additional benefits including:
-
Earning more during peak times, when demand is highest
-
Getting paid fast: Earnings are automatically deposited in the driver’s account every week
-
24/7 support and emergency assistance right from the app: With RideCheck, Uber checks in with both riders and drivers if the app detects that something may have gone wrong during a trip, like a possible crash or unexpected stop.
-
New safety features and policies to help drivers and riders be safe as we navigate the new normal together.
With the license approval, Mayor Brian Bowman expressed his continued support to bring ridesharing to the city:
“With news of Uber receiving its dispatch licence, Winnipeg finally has an international rideshare company entering the market. It’s been a long road but it’s great to see a recognizable company like Uber will soon be an option for residents and visitors to Winnipeg.”
Back to me – So, what do you think – will you use Uber? Any interest in driving for Uber? I’m not affiliated with them – just thought could be a great offer for a lot of local people.
