I have been using it for a few years, I like to get mostly produce boxes and I share with friends and family. Today I wanted to make my tomato red pepper soup, and we were also out of potatoes and sweet potatoes. I was at Costco and the bags of sweet potatoes were $6 each. I was lucky to find a box of them on Flashfood.
So here are the boxes that I ordered, you can compare and see how much I actually ended up getting.
I picked them up at two stores, I was out doing errands anyways.
I sorted and washed everything – I had to throw away three tomatoes that got squished, two grapes that had browned and one mandarin orange that got squished. Everything else is in perfect condition.
This is what I ended up with:
– 2 packages of green grapes
– 32 tomatoes on the vine
– 17 mandarin oranges
– 24 red peppers
– 4 different peppers
– 1 pack of cherry tomatoes
– 1 bag of onions
– 8 huge sweet potatoes
– 4 giant russet potatoes
– 56 red potatoes
To compare – the amount of sweet potatoes I got was equal to three or four bags weight-wise at costco, which would be 18 to $24 right away.
If you even just guess that a red pepper is a dollar, which is a low price, there’s 24 of them so just those two things paid for all of the boxes!
We are now fully stocked for fruits and vegetables for the week, and I have enough to make several batches of my soup to freeze and giveaway.
