St. Norbert Farmers Market – Opening Day 2014!

21 May

This Saturday May 24th it’s opening day at the St. Norbert Farmers Market! I know a lot of people have been waiting for this day!

The Market is actually open 2 days a week – Saturdays from 8am to 3pm and Wednesdays from 11am to 4pm. I wish we lived closer so could go twice a week, would be easy to eat all local that way!

For opening day they are doing something pretty fun – making Canada’s biggest sticky bun! There’s also free face painting, music and much more. And of course there’s all the great local vendors!! There’s entertainment most weekends too, you can check the site for the full list.

One thing I really like about heading there is that you can make a morning of it – pick up some fresh made waffles and sit down at the picnic tables. Or if you’re later grab some other food and a fresh lemonade. There’s a lot to see, and a good mix of food to crafty stuff. You can also pick up plants, toys, baked goods, gift stuff and more – good mix before all the fresh local produce comes in. There’s also a harvest scheduele on their site – good way to figure out what to expect when you’re there.

I love picking up the things you can’t find anywhere else – blue potatoes, odd coloured beets and carrots etc.  Can always come up with so many amazing meals with just what you pick up at the market!

Who’s heading there for opening weekend? Which vendors have you missed the most of the long winter months?

  1. I live in the nobert and there’s so many great vendors! My husband and I love the lamb vendor when they arrive in early august . And we enjoy the homemade apple cider. We go every weekend for our produce and it’s just a great place to hang out and listen to some great music. And if it’s your first time there , stop by the red ember food truck! They make great pizzas!
