As most people know, I split my shopping between Safeway and Sobey’s – my 2 favourite grocery chains! The news that Sobey’s has purchased Safeway is a bit shocking, and the fact that there are no concrete plans yet leaves a lot up to the imagination. What do you think Sobey’s has in store for Safeway?
Do you think they will all be turned into Sobey’s? What will happen to the airmiles program? And Safeway’s awesome guarantees on all the produce and their products? There are so many Sobey’s and Safeways within blocks of each other in Winnipeg – not sure if it’s like that in all other cities that have both stores.
It’s been quite the topic in our facebook group – opinions and ideas from one end to the other. Do you think the staff will be the same, laid off, absorbed etc. Any predictions? And does it affect you in any way?
