Until Nov. 18th Shopper’s is having a great card promo – I never got the email, but one of you went and did it and emailed me the details so it’s legit. 🙂
Spend 150$ on giftcards (shoppers, starbucks, timmies, kfc etc.) and get 1500 points right away, then on Nov. 25th you’ll be rewarded with a bonus 8000 points for it!! 🙂 Awesome deal! Perfect for xmas gifts, or just places you’d normally go anyway. We usually get a bunch of stuff from m&m’s around the holidays so will pick up a few cards for that, and just some shoppers cards to use on 20x weekends! Ok, and some timmies and starbucks cards because I’m a total coffee addict!
Did anyone else do this promo? Great deal, especially if you save the points for a bonus weekend!
Thanks, Nadine! But you only get the base points (the 1500) on SDM cards, not on the others! 🙂
8000 still good! 🙂 We are going to pick up cards for xmas gifts for sure – we’d be doing it anyway, just a bit earlier.
Your best bet is to buy multiple SDM cards (ie 3X50$ or 100+50) as you only get the 8000 bonus points if you purchase at least 2 cards totaling 150 in one transaction. That was you get 1500 base points, plus the bonus 8000 = 9500. You can then purchase any other gift cards with the SDM Card knowing you got the base points 🙂
***Please note, NO DOUBLE DIPPING!!! You will not get the bonus points if pay for your purchase using a gift card! LOL
I can get like 6 25$ cards to do it, right? I want to buy all the xmas ones so that’s one order, then do some for us, probably 1 big shoppers, an m&m’s one, starbucks, timmies etc

10,000 points when you send 50 on eligible products
Details are at the bottom of the back page of the current flyer. You can buy as many cards as you want… minimum of 2 cards, minimum total $150 to get the bonuse points later in the month. I did not get regular Optimum points on all of the cards.
The fine print wording kinda boggles the mind:
“Spend $150 on gift cards (minimum 2 cards), and earn 8000 Shoppers Optimum Bonus Points.
Points to be awarded to your account by Friday, November 25, 2011 for eligible transactions. Calculation excludes Shoppers Optimum® MasterCard® points. Not to be used in conjunction with any other Shoppers promotion or offer. Gift or financial cards may not be used to purchase additional gift or financial cards. Bonus points will not be issued for transactions in which a gift card or a financial card is used as tender to pay for additional gift or financial cards. Some conditions apply. Offer valid Saturday, November 5, 2011 to Friday, November 18, 2011. See store for details.”
does this mean I can’t use a visa or mastercard to pay for them?
I think it just means that you can’t use a prepaid visa or mastercard.
I paid using my MasterCard. I’m pretty sure Nadine is right about the prepaid credit card being the one that’s not allowed. (ie Vanilla Mastercard, etc)
It better count regular credit cards! I did one cash and one on my card! 🙂
I purchased $125 worth of cards from Shoppers and realized I didn’t use the Optimium card. I still had the receipt and went back thinking I could purchase another $25 dollars worth for the points and she told me that Gift cards were not eligible for points?
Phone the toll free # for shoppers and find out if you can buy the 25$ and qualify for the promo. I’ve had to deal with them a few times when cashiers made mistakes with points (watch on bonus days that they do it right) and the people at the 800 number have always resolved it in minutes.
