I had to reread the email a few times, almost sounds too good to be true. It excludes giftcards, of course – second item must be of equal or lesser value. Also says discount will be allocated across items.
It didn’t say on the email that it excludes clearance or sale items at all!
What an amazing time to stock up on summer clothes, and even back to school clothes! I usually shop a year or two in advance for all the basics, and a sale like this is a great time to do it!
