At our house we are huge fans of board and card games – this is what a typical weekend looks like for us!! With the cold weather we get, playing games is a great way to pass the time, have fun and just get to really unwind together. So many games are great for math and reading skills too, so it’s great to get together and play as a family.

We love to have friends over too and have game nights, but just the 3 of us enjoy a quiet night at home bonding over a fun game. Throw in some snacks and some laughs and you have the perfect afternoon or evening!

We are pretty competitive too, there’s been some pretty crazy rounds of Uno – kiddo keeps score and we all battle it out to be the top winner!! I’m a big fan of marathon gaming – we keep track and games can last for a long time!

I love now that our daughter can read more on her own, makes a lot of games more fun. We no longer need to team up with her. It’s also fun to get to see how she will do on her own, coming up with her own strategies and moves – she loves to try and trick us!

We had a great time with this Mattel party pack – we received a bunch of great games!

We got a really good variety, Balderdash for the grownups which was a lot of fun playing with family over the Thanksgiving long weekend. It’s always entertaining to see people’s bluffing skills – or for some, the complete lack of! 😉

For the family there’s Apples to Apples, Skip Bo and Uno. I remember as a kid playing a lot of Uno with the family, especially when we’d all meet up on camping trips. It’s a fun game for the adults, and easy enough for the kids to play too. And it’s so fun busting people when they forget to say Uno when they’re down to their last card!

And what kid doesn’t love Angry Birds – making it into a fun interactive game is a great way to get them all moving around chasing the flying birds!

The party pack also comes with all kinds of other fun stuff like a party planning checklist, bottle openers, coasters, napkins and some really neat coloured fortune cookies with hilarious game themed fortunes inside!

Pretty neat to have them really themed to the Mattel games – makes for some good laughs when everyone’s eating their fortune cookies.
