If you want to make your own caramel sauce in the Instant Pot and want it as simple and easy as possible – this is the recipe for you!
Couldn’t get any easier – and all you need is a can of sweetened condensed milk, a mason jar or other oven proof container and some foil. And and Instant Pot of course!
Open up your can of sweetened condensed milk and pour it in the jar – cover it tightly with some foil. Put in on the trivet in the Instant Pot. Put in water to reach about halfway up the jar or container you’re using. Set it on low pressure for 50 minutes and that’s it.
Do a quick release when it’s over – be very careful as it’s basically hot lava at this point. It’s amazing how hot it is – so as tempted as you are, don’t sneak a little bite. Stir it up for 30 seconds or so and you’re done. Smooth, amazing luscious caramel!
You can use it to dip apples in, top a cake, top mini donuts, put it on cheesecake – or just grab a spoon!
The trick is the low pressure – I tried several recipes that cooked it on high. Some you had to stir for a crazy amount of time, some you had to use an immersion blender. On low, it’s smooth right away, no lumps or overcooking.
And no need to add anything else to it, which is amazing!
