Glad #GruesomeChallenge – compostable bag review

28 Oct

glad1Glad has some small compostable bags made for your indoor one – the one you keep inside before you make the trek to the composter outside. So, we carved our pumpkin and filled it up with chunks of pumpkin and the guts and waited…

We always having fun carving our pumpkin. We let the kiddo draw her picture onto the pumpkin with markers first – the nose looks like Spongebob to me.

Then my husband carves the pumpkin with a sharp knife while we stand back 😉 It can be a little tricky!! We don’t go too complicated with it – this one we got this year was a little lopsided and had a hard time standing up. And we put it outside after…and the squirrels had a feast with it!

And what do you do after you carve a pumpkin? Time for roasting the seeds of course!!

glad2   Do you have a favourite recipe you use for the seeds?

We usually just wing it…this year I kind of overpoured the olive oil on them, and just did salt and pepper – they ended up being the best seeds we’ve ever had! The extra olive oil made them taste really buttery – just be careful in the oven! Roasting the seeds just puts you in the Fall spirit so much, the smell and taste just reminds you of childhood fun. We sat around and played cards while eating them – fun, but the cards were a little oily after!

So…I was supposed to check the bin after 3 days to see how the bag held up…well, things got a little busy and I forgot to check for a week. I was too scared to even look so made my husband do it! I figured it would stink, and the bag would have burst open or something. Well, the contents were gross, but glad to say the bag held up great! No leaks, no mess at all in the bin – and really didn’t even smell at all.

glad3  This is a great idea if you’re not emptying your bin every day, or don’t want to be stuck washing it every time. Or if you’re like us and things kind of escape you sometimes and you don’t want to deal with the nastiness. This was super simple, tied up the bag and the bin is good to go.

You can find coupons for them on the Clorox site.
