If you’re looking for something fun and free to do on May 26th and 27th, make sure to mark Doors Open Winnipeg on your calendar!
There’s a lot of locations to check out all over the city and it’s all free to see too. It’s a great family friendly event, and you can pick and choose your own locations to see what you’d want to learn about or get to see inside – but also things like if there’s a lot of walking involved, parking etc.
You can pick buildings and indoor events, there’s also tours and outdoor events – bike tours, walking tours and more!
There’s a map to show you all the spots – makes it really easy to pick one end of the city and move around that way. Pick a spot and it gives you all the info, very easy to use.
It’s a lot of fun to see buildings that you normally don’t get a chance to see the inside of – some places are closed, or certain parts aren’t usually for the public and so on. Getting a tour and info is also great too.
It’s a really great mix of buildings and houses too – all kinds of neat history too.
Just remember that some spots and tours (especially downtown and the exchange) can get pretty busy, so plan for that. Good shoes and some water and snacks is always a good idea too 🙂
It’s a lot of fun to pick an area to explore, check out the local small businesses, go out for lunch or dinner – be a tourist in an area you might not normally walk around in 🙂
