Canada Day is always such a fun day in Winnipeg, and there’s some great events this year.

  • Assiniboine Park has their Canad Inns Family Fun Day – starts at 1pm and there’s things for the whole family. Their fireworks display is set to music and starts at 10:40pm. It gets very busy there, so look into parking or shuttles or the bus if you can.

There’s also the Canada Day Living Flag at Shaw Park from 9-11am. They will be handing out 2500 red and white shirts – first come first served. They encourage people to wear those colours if they can. It’s a competition against other cities too – so make sure to head down there if you can! 🙂

The Forks has their party starting at noon. Entertainment and family friendly activities all day, ending with fireworks at 11pm. If it’s nice out kids can bring their swim suits and cool down at the splash pad.

St. Norbert Farmers Market has activities from 3pm to dusk! Lots of family friendly fun and fireworks!

St. Boniface is hosting a lot of events – a Farmers Market, music, family activities and even a free trolley to get around.

There’s also the Canada Day Run – it’s a family event. There’s 5k fun run, 5k family run and 1k kids run. You have to register in advance – there’s lots of neat prizes and gifts.

Osborne Village closes off part of the street and has a big party – it actually lasts several days and there’s lots to see and do!

Assiniboia Downs has family fun Days – from 1 to 4pm there’s bouncers, pony rides, petting zoo and more.

I’ll keep updating as we get closer – if I’ve missed anything let me know.

  1. There’s stuff happening at Central Park from 12-5 I believe. Free hot dog lunch, many musical performers (last year they had a Japanese drumming group), and I know Fresh IE will be there this year as well. They had a giant 4 way tug-of-war last year, face painters and of course there is the big splash pad.
