Canada Day events and Fireworks in #Winnipeg 2017!

8 Jun

There are ton of celebrations happening all year long for Canada’s 150th, and this Canada Day should be pretty amazing! Lots of fun stuff for the entire family and of course, fireworks!

I’ll keep adding on to the list as we come closer to it, make sure to let me know if I’ve missed any. There will be a lot of events at smaller community centres etc. so keep an eye out in your own neighbourhood too if you want to stay closer to home.

  • The Forks always has a great Canada Day party – there’s music all day long on a few stages, Parks Canada usually has fun stuff for the kids, there’s demo’s at the skate park and more. Top it all off with fireworks at 11pm – and it also says site wide pyrotechnics too. Make sure to walk, bus or ride a bike if you can, it gets chaotic there.
  • Assiniboine Park has their Canad Inns Family Fun Day. It starts at 1pm and there’s tons to do – music, family activities, there’s even a birthday cake! End the day with their amazing fireworks display! Check into options for park and ride etc. for that one as the park fills up quickly that day.
  • Osborne Village closes down a 1km stretch of the street and throws a big party. Food trucks, vendors, music – they’re even playing an outdoor movie this year! Another good one to bus to, or park super far away and walk down.
  • Transcona Biz has a big party too, kicking it off with a pancake breakfast at the Legion at 9am. Festivities start at noon at the Square. Music, cake, bouncers, games, and ends with fireworks at 10:15pm.
  • Downtown Winnipeg Biz is doing their Living Flag again from 8-10am at Portage and Main. Wear red and become part of the flag!
  • St Norbert has an all day event starting with the market opening at 8am – there’s sheep shearing at 930 and 1030am, historic walking tour of St. Norbert at 1:30pm, and starting at 3pm there’s a bunch of family activities – fireworks at dusk.
