Canada Day Activities in Winnipeg – and fireworks too of course!

13 Jun

If you’re looking for some fun stuff to do on Canada Day or fireworks, there are quite a few choices! And also quite a few things that have been cancelled or gone.

  • The Forks is having events all day – and there are fireworks at 11pm! Since there aren’t many fireworks happening in the city this year for Canada, expect these to be even more busy than other years.
  • Assiniboine Park is having a family event that starts at 11am – there’s Citizenship ceremonies, Al Simmons and many other performers. This one ends at 5pm though – and there are NO fireworks there this year.
  • Assiniboia Downs is having a Canada Day event – live racing starts at 7:15pm and there will be fireworks after.
  • St. Norbert Farmers Market is having a special market on Canada Day – opens at 1pm. Closes at dusk with a fireworks show.
  • The Mint is having some fun activities from 9am to 5pm. There’s free Canada Day-themed hammer strike (one per person while supplies last), children’s entertainment, free self-guided tours and food trucks (Bridge Drive-In and Danny’s Whole Hog).
  • Fort Whyte Alive is celebrating Canada Day with tours and outdoor activities.
  • In case you’re looking for the Canada Day Living Flag – don’t – it’s over.
  • Transcona Biz has a family event happening – pancake breakfast, music, lots of big outdoor games, and other family stuff. Ends pretty early too.
  • Osborne Village has a Canada Day party that runs for most of the weekend. Lots of bands, vendors etc.
  • Oak Hammock Marsh has birthday cake, wagon rides, face painting and more for Canada Day from 10am to 4:30pm.
