Vtech Innotab 3 – Review and Giveaway

27 Aug

innotab  The Vtech Innotab 3 is a great little tablet for kids! We got one to try out for my 7 year old, and she loves it.

The tablet is easy to use, and very heavy duty so no worries about dropping it etc. (you can buy extra cases for protection for younger kids too).  My daughter was able to get it going right away, she even recorded her voice so when it turns on she gets to hear her personalized message! Super cute!!

It comes with 16 apps, ready to go. You can either plug it into your computer and purchase more apps from the store, which is quite easy to do, or you can buy cartridge kits that you pop into it if you have no internet access. I like that it didn’t rely on the internet at all, we brought it on our holiday to Gimli and kiddo was able to use it there with no problems. Kept her busy and entertained during quiet times, and in the evenings.

You can download all kinds of learning games, videos, books etc.  There are all kinds of themed ones too so your kids can play games with their favourite characters, like Hello Kitty, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and much more. I like that there are also some 2 player games on it, so kiddo can play a boardgame on it with grandma. Also nice to be able to read books on it, either with help for new readers, or just on your own for older kids.

Lots of neat features on this tablet too – comes with a super easy to use camera and video recorder so kids can make up all kinds of crazy stuff. There’s a microphone too, and some games you have to blow into it to move bees out the way, pretty funny technology! The camera has all kinds of neat features too, just that in itself is hours of fun – kids can take all kinds of neat pictures and videos and do all kinds of crazy stuff to them.

You can learn a lot on this tablet, science, math, social studies and much more so it’s a great educational tool, but it’s also a lot of fun for the kids. I like that it’s sturdy enough to just throw in a bag and bring along too. It also has a calendar app on it, so kids can add in special days and times for reminders.

The recommended age for this is 3-9 years old, having tried it out now I think it would be fine for a 2 year old beginner for sure. I can see my daughter would have loved it at that age. She’s 7 going on 13 now, so she’s getting to the top age for it for sure. It’s a great gift idea for a 2-5 year old I’d think, a kid getting ready to go to school. Always nice to have something educational for them to do when the weather is crazy hot like it is now, but also in the cold winter months. This is nice and portable, and the batteries last quite a long time. You can also buy a charger for it for home use.

It’s also good for more than one kid, because it can hold several different profiles so kids can each customize it their own way which is awesome!

  1. Definitely the 2 play function – it’s boring to “watch” someone else play, how much more fun when 2 can play together!

  2. I like the 2 player function and my oldest will love the art studio function. and my youngest would love the MP3 playlist function.

  3. The camera function. A few years back I had contemplated between the Leap Pad Explorer and Leappad. Went with the Explorer and my only regret is that I had to get a separate camera for my kids. Games/Apps/Camera all in one is the way to go!

  4. I like that my brother would stop stealing mine and I love the camera function. I use my aunties ipad and takes too many pictures she said. – This is what my daughter told me 🙂

  5. Liked on fb, love that there is combo of games and learning, also the camera, they really want to have their own and use mine all the time, checked out their website, lots of info on it.

  6. i love the mp3 feature, that way my son can listen to the cars soundtrack without me listening too it over and over again

  7. I tweeted (@ksceviour) ..but I cannot paste l the link,I don`t know how others paste the link without right clicking and pasting??

  8. I like that it’s ‘durable and kid-safe’. You don’t need to worry about the little ones wanting to play with the iPad and breaking it!!!
