Red River Ex deals and info

9 May

The Red River Ex is going to be from June 14th to 23rd this year. It can be quite expensive to go, so I always try to plan it out in advance and read up on all of the deals. So, here they are:

You can buy advanced tickets starting May 13th at Sobey’s or Mac’s and that’s already quite a big savings.  You can even buy them online which is super convenient.

There are a few $5 before 5pm which is an awesome deal – on Friday the 14th, and then from the 17th to 21st.

There’s also family day with Toopy & Binoo on June 23rd at 2 and 4pm. Bring your family between 10:30 – 11:30 am and, with a donation to Winnipeg Harvest, you all get in FREE. There’s a FREE pancake breakfast, plus kids under 10 can ride the Kiddieland Rides all day for just $12. This day is usually super busy, so be ready for some long lineups for this one.

There’s a lot of great entertainment for the whole family to see with your price of admission, and then there are concerts at night including Colin James, Trooper, Glass Tiger, Econoline Crush, Allan Doyle and more.

What we’ve found that works best is to go on opening day, as early as you can. It doesn’t get busy until late afternoon, you don’t have to wait in line for any of the rides, you get great seats for all of the shows. We usually go right after lunch (since we all have the red river ex flu of course! 😉 ) and it’s really pleasant for all of us. It’s fun to take your time and get to see all of the shows – and since you only pay $5 for admission it can be a super cheap day. What are your best tips to save money at the Red River Ex? I know last year there was a lot of confusion whether you could bring in your own food or not…Hoping this year it’s more clear, if people want to bring picnics to save a bit more. We like to each get a few treats, but usually stay until dinner time – and are usually so exhausted by then anyway it’s nice to go home when the crowds hit.

And remember, it’s $5 to park there too – if you’re working out a budget for the day always good to add that one in.

  1. I found last year that going on the last day seems to be the best for us cause of the kids free shows and the wristband deals you mentioned and also the free admission thing u mentioned. Plus I find the games are easier to win cause it’s the last day so they don’t care too much and they were basically giving my kids prizes just for trying last year 🙂
