If you’re looking for something fun to do with the family and don’t want to drive too far – check out the town of New Bothwell. Also great if you’re just a big fan of cheese!
We went for the first time in our series of mini road trips with the Ford Fiesta – this was our shortest trip and we chose a rainy day to go.
If you’re a fan of Bothwell Cheese this is the place to be! There’s the regular blocks you can buy at the grocery store, but also giant bags and bricks of cheese.
The prices are amazing! Most things were close to half what you’d pay at other stores – and the selection was great. A really good idea is to go halfsies with a friend or family member – some of the packages are huge. Or even just freeze it – or eat it all!
There were even extra sales on certain cheeses. We stocked up on all our favourites and tried some new ones. I like that they have other local products too – picked up some nice pasta and fresh parmesan for dinner that night.
I’m already planning another trip back and will be bringing my cooler!
And while you’re there make sure to check out the New B’s Cafe.
My daughter loved this place – restaurant, movie rentals, groceries, school supplies and more all in one spot.
The menu was very family friendly, the prices were super reasonable and it was super cute inside. We were there for an earlier lunch so didn’t try the pizzas but I hear they’re amazing.
My tip – if you order the perogies get the gravy on the side 🙂 It was delicious gravy but I don’t normally eat a cup of gravy with a few perogies (or any gravy) so it was a bit much for me. Yummy though.
All in all a fun day out – super close to the city, easy for a quick afternoon and perfect way to stock up on the best cheese around!
How much money do you figure is the min. You would suggest bringing to score a great variety and haul for a family of 5 who often entertain?!
We only spent $20 something when we went and filled our whole cheese drawer. A lot of the bricks are only $3 so it doesn’t require a huge investment to make it worth it. On my next trip though I plan a big stock up and to get the giant bags.

Cool! Do they have this store at the factory or is it one in town? I would think that cheese under $1/100g is a good deal for me, are those the kind or prices you found?
