Family Friendly Spooky and Not So Spooky Activities for Fall and Halloween in Manitoba

4 Oct

If you’re looking for the super spooky adult stuff to do, that’s not this post! Check out this one, of all the best Halloween and Scary Stuff in Manitoba.  This one is PG, and for the entire family! There’s lots to do that can be a little scary, not scary at all – or if your kids are older or braver, check out some of the spookier stuff.

Here are the family ones that have been announced so far, this is one of my fave posts to do every year, and I’m thinking this is the 7th or 8th year I post this stuff up and it gets better every year! Manitoba does like their fall and spooky events for sure! I’ll keep updating as we get closer too.

Trick or Treating at the Mall is always fun for the little ones – most malls now are mostly appealing to the very, very young ones so keep that in mind.

  • Kildonan Place has their safe Trick or Treating Oct. 31st from 2-4:30pm. It’s available to the first 1000 kids, you have to get a specific bag at guest services.
  • St. Vital Centre has their safe trick or treating Oct. 31st starting at 6pm. You have to get a bag at Centre Court, and it’s for kids 10 and under.
  • Grant Park has their Safe halloween from 4-7pm on Oct. 31st. There’s also a medieval display and free photo booth.
  • Ikea has their Halloween Event Oct. 30th from 4-8pm. Kids in costume eat free and get a bag of Swedish treats! There’s also trick or treat stations and special scary deals throughout the store.
  • Children’s Museum has their Halloween Howl on Oct. 28th from 6-9pm. Looks like a fun one, dance party, snacks and treats, all kinds of neat exhibits. Always fun for kids to get to wear their costumes indoors too – without bulky outwear.
  • Shelmerdine’s has Halloween fun happening all month long! This looks like a blast! Halloween Fun Zone, magic shows, rides and more! Check out their event page because it’s happening a lot and looks like one to really go check out! Lots for the whole family!
  • Prairie Dog Central has several different Halloween themed rides – some are sold out and selling out so if you were planning on that, don’t wait.
  • Halloween at the Hill is at Bird’s Hill Oct. 14th from 6-9pm. Looks like fun – guided night hike, campfire, hay rides and more.
  • Assiniboine Zoo is having spooky events all month long!
  • Lower Fort Scary is happening at Lower Fort Garry on Oct. 22nd, 28th and 29th. Lots of fun for the kids!
  • The Great Big Boo at Cineplex is musical theatre meets trick or treating. There are several shows and you can buy tickets in advance.

And really – Halloween is a month long event now it seems, so let the kids wear those costumes a lot! I love seeing kids out in costume, running errands, at the movies – wherever! So much fun, and anything can become a themed event that way 🙂  I’ll keep updating as we get closer to Halloween for sure with more and more family friendly events.
